Merle Schmidt is a successful Estonian model, hospitality manager and former professional athlete living in Mauritius with her partner Pascal and their now 6 years old daughter Luna. Mauritius has been home to Merle for the past three years, having previously lived in Morocco, France, Egypt and the Maldives. Merle is passionate about languages, sports, hospitality, travelling and psychology. She also enjoys travelling and exploring the world and its different cultures.
Merle is ambitious and enjoys competition. She is a former professional athlete in Track & Field, and was the Estonian Youth Champion in the High Jump and 100m hurdles. This passion for sports has never left her side, which is why in Mauritius she enjoys everything that the local environment enables her to do, from running, swimming, hiking, trails, volley and paddle.
Unfortunately, an injury forced Merle to end her successful athletic career, however her ambitious personality continued to shine through in her professional career, where she was elected Best Receptionist of Estonia in 2006. This gave her the prestigious opportunity to take part in the finals of The Best Receptionist, Worldwide in London 2006 (organised by aicrinternational.org). This provided her with an excellent platform to develop her career in the hotel industry, having undertaken a series of managerial positions.
Merle currently combines her modelling with a successful career as a freelance consultant in hospitality. Speaking of her modelling career, Merle explains that it permits her once again to challenge herself and to be creative, as every project is totally unique. As a model, she must ensure she lives a healthy and active lifestyle, which fuses well with her passion for sport and the great outdoors. Merle is grateful for the lifestyle she is able to lead as a result of her career and the beautiful Mauritian environment in which she lives.
Speaking of her opportunity to model for Liri Jewellery, Merle explains:
“I adored working on the Liri shoot as I was able to meet such a variety of talented and creative people. The jewellery we wore was gorgeous and so expressive, with the attention to detail clear in every piece; so feminine!”
Liri would like to thank Merle for her professionalism and friendliness during the shoot. You were a pleasure to work with and made the jewellery look truly beautiful.
